Alexandria Brown Bag–Technology Gap Analysis
August 21, 2014 @ 11:30 am - 1:35 pmFree
Continuing our 2014 theme of The Evolution of Associations, the August session is a stimulating discussion: Finding Your Gaps–Using the Technology Review Process to Improve Business Processes.
Technology is a business tool. And people use it. Meaning, humans use technology and not always to its best advantage. A technology review offers a high level look into what’s really behind staff’s insistence that “it’s not working.”
Diane Young and Laura Armstrong of designDATA have completed many technology reviews, both as consultants and in their former roles as association executives (finance and IT, respectively). The ability to see beyond the complaints to understand what the real technology problems are gives an organization the ability to focus on fixing them. For example,
* Is it staff perception of a tool, and can that be fixed by training or adjustment in the business process?
* Is it an outdated AMS that just doesn’t match the organization’s membership and CRM structure?
* Can the systems in place be reworked to match the organization’s current requirements?
* Are there technologies that would better serve your users to help them do their jobs?
Diane and Laura will present best practices in using a technology review process and lead the discussion with the group on their experiences in this important task.
TIME: Begin gathering 11:30 am for peer networking. Program begins PROMPTLY at noon and concludes by 1:30pm.
