Background:
Tax Credit Advisor is a niche publication that focuses on the affordable housing and tax credit industries. The publication is produced monthly and is read by over 400 key people on a regular basis.
Scott Oser’s Solution:
Scott Oser Associates successfully launched an advertising sales program forTax Credit Advisor. By working with key staff at the publication, they were able to determine who the best prospects were to sell advertising to. Additional crucial information was gathered about the readership/audience to create a media kit. A marketing schedule was developed to include special advertiser incentives. Persistent communications via phone and email helped develop sales and long term relationships with many advertisers.Tax Credit Advisor had produced over $150,000 in advertising sales in 2008.

The Challenge:
RECRUITMENT OF MEMBERS
The Client:
HPBA – Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association(HPBA) is an international trade association representing and promoting the interests of manufacturers, retailers, distributors, manufacturers’ representatives, service and installation firms, and other companies and individuals.
Scott Oser’s Solution:
Developed and helped implement a three prong multi-channel marketing campaign. Prospect lists were gathered by National from affiliates and other partners. These lists were updated, compared and deduped and ultimately used in a targeted direct mail campaign designed to drive leads back to National or to appropriate local regional affiliate. Customized brochures were developed and sent to regional affiliates for distribution to manufacturer’s reps and distributors to hand to retailers when they were making their normal sales calls. A national call day was held where the retailers were called and contacted about joining the HPBA. The strategy of multi-touch through multiple media and from both a regional and national perspective was very successful.

RETENTION OF EXISTING MEMBERS
The Client:
Tech Council of Maryland
Background:
The Tech Council of Maryland (TCM) is Maryland’s largest technology trade association which brings its 500 plus members access to technology industry leaders in Maryland, DC and Virginia.
Scott Oser’s Solution:
Developed and implemented a “High Touch Member Communication Strategy” First step was to interview all of the key players from TCM including staff and BOD members to get a majority agreement from the top management. In the next step, targeted and personalized copy was written for correspondences meant to make new and renewing members feel like they were acknowledged, appreciated and a highly valued member of the organization. This program included direct mail, email and telephone contact throughout the year made by various individuals of the organization. New and returning members reacted very positively to the changes and renewal rates have increased.
